The Center for Cholesterol Management provides state-of-the-art diagnosis and treatment for patients with lipid disorders. This multi-disciplinary team approach to lipid treatment comprises the efforts of physicians, nurses, dietitians, and physical therapists to offer preventative and management care for patients with high cholesterol, heart disease and those at risk for developing coronary artery disease.
There is more to lipid management than measuring cholesterol. Most of today's tests don't tell the whole story. In fact, heart attacks occur in most people without any warning signs. The Center for Cholesterol Management is the only free-standing facility in Southern California to deliver state-of-the-art diagnosis and treatment of lipid disorders using the NMR-based lipoprofile. It is the only test that provides both traditional lipids and the number of atherogenic particles to better identify and manage patients at risk for coronary heart disease. This detailed information allows us to develop an individualized medication, diet, and exercise program for each patient.
Armed with the results of your assessment, the Center will design a focused, effective treatment plan for fighting heart disease. This may include medication, consultations with the registered dietitian, registered nurse, physical therapist and follow-up visits with your physician.
A registered dietitian is a nutrition specialist that holds a credential to practice. RDs are trained to help you choose the right foods to promote good health and manage your weight. Many studies show that you can decrease your risk for developing heart disease, diabetes, and other chronic diseases through dietary intervention.
